About Donna

I teach eastern spiritual philosophy at Santa Monica College and Kundalini Yoga through Kundalini University. I am also the interviewer and editor for Awaken.com. In 2011, my book Buddha in the Classroom was released by Skyhorse Publications, N.Y..

I have also produced several CDs of Guided Meditations, which are widely available. And I am a watercolor artist. My paintings can be viewed here.

But aside from these occupations, my lifelong passion has always been music. I remember telling my mother I was “sick,” just so that I could stay home and listen to all my favorite record albums… on original vinyl, of course. My first concert was Queen, with Freddie Mercury, at the LA Forum. My first published writings were music reviews. And I also love to sing! I have my karaoke clips on Insta (@kimonokaraoke).

I have a pet theory, that we imbibe the culture we were born into. That would explain my fascination with The Summer of Love, in 1967, the Woodstock Festival of 1969, and the whole era, generally… which was the original focus of this blog.

I live with two handsome terriers, in Culver City, California.
